If I told you I was sorry for blogging only once a week would you believe me? No? I can’t blame you. We’re now in the final countdown to d-day (this time d-day stands for delivery day and NOT deployment day <– YES!) and scrambling to get last minute preparations [read: nesting]. The nursery has been my project this past week. I’ve managed to take it from this:
to this:
{The rug with the awesome stain is the 15€ IKEA special. It will eventually be replaced with something more gender specific but for now we’re rocking the stain. The baby doesn’t care.}
I spent two days assembling the dressers (that may also be used a changing station) and bookshelf. Once I got that done, everything just sort of fell into place. I spent another day washing clothes and organizing the drawers. We’re stocked on diapers and wipes (thank you, Amazon Mom) and all that’s left is to get the last remaining items from our registry that we need (versus what we want). The crib is still a work in progress, it needs the polyurethane coating and to be assembled. The wall decorations are temporarily hung on nails that were already there. We’ll fix that eventually. We have some sweet wall art to hang over the crib once it’s finished.
We might put a bow on it if Ewn is a girl. The Viper Pilot says no, but we’ll see. During his time at summer camp in the desert, he flew with an American flag in the cockpit and printed out a certificate for the baby. We’ll get a frame case for it one of these days and display it. And there’s also the baby’s other souvenir from daddy’s business trip.
The baby could care less that he was gone for 5 months during the pregnancy, but it was a pretty big deal to us and I love that we have these items to remember its significance in our lives.
My dad found a new app on his phone and has been making the most heartwarming slideshows with pictures on his phone and pictures that my sisters and I have sent him. Usually the videos are of my niece and nephews and their gimmicks. The videos are guaranteed to make me bawl my eyes out. I can’t believe how much they’ve grown up since I saw them last in July 2012 and I get teary-eyed anytime pictures are put in a slideshow to music. You too? Seriously, why is that? Anyway, this video features the newest grandbaby.
As you probably know, I have a pretty big family so he put together a pool. Everyone has to predict boy or girl and birth date. Here’s what we have so far:
- Grandpa B – 11/30
- Grandma B – 12/1 (she changes her mind daily, but I think she just can’t be wrong)
- Angie – 12/3
- Shane – 11/19
- Henry – 11/27
- Maddie – undecided
- Alison – 12/2
- Keith – a boy or girl in November (ha, I think he’s also afraid of being wrong)
- Blake – 11/28
- Cale – 11/23
- Baby daddy – 11/15
- Lil mama – 11/23
PROST!
