This one is for all my fellow milky mamas. And anyone who loves a healthy granola bar.

Alex was back at work and I was really overwhelmed with my new responsibilities as mama bear to two babies. Anytime I got out food, Owen stole it. If I got a water bottle out for myself, Owen stole it. I really struggled to eat properly (if I got to eat at all – buh bye baby weight) and drink adequate amounts of water (I made sure to drink a lot during the night feedings).
I read about the benefits of oatmeal and brewer’s yeast so I tried making lactation cookies, but it was just extra work that I didn’t need to deal with. But I couldn’t eat them fast enough and they went stale. Ugh.
Then I discovered Oat Mama lactation granola bars. They held me tight, patted me on the back and whispered, “there, there…it will all be okay.”
Alright, so a granola bar didn’t actually hold me close and whisper those sweet nothings in my ear, but they might as well have. I managed to find the time to eat at least one Oat Mama bar a day. Of course, Owen loves them too so I would share a few bites but sometimes I hid behind the couch to indulge…
I immediately noticed the benefits. My great supply held steady and may have increased ever so slightly (no, it didn’t cause me to suddenly become engorged or give me an oversupply), my mood improved, my energy was elevated, my digestive system was on track, and I felt healthier despite my lack of sleep.
Oat Mama bars come in four amazing flavors, but the chocolate almond coconut is my favorite. I continue to order the variety pack because they’re all good! And they are all chock-full of the essential nutrients nursing mamas need for themselves and their babies.
Oh, and did I mention that they’re dairy free, wheat free, egg free, and soy free?! It really doesn’t get any better than that. These bars are perfect for every breastfeeding hero!
I hope you love them as much as I do!
