Hello. How are you?
Mouse-o and I are having a lazy day here. Today is, well, was a study day. All that’s left are 2 finals on Monday and I’m feeling pretty confident so I’m going to take the rest of the afternoon off from studying. I’m munching on some baby carrots and chipotle hummus and fresh fruit (kiwis, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, n grapes), snuggling with Elmer and halfway watching the Ellen DeGeneres show. Oh, and we’re watching it rain. STILL.
You may notice that we have a dog of many names. Her real name is Elle Mouse-o. When she sleeps all the hair on her face gets pushed back and she gets a mouse face. The -o part got added because in the Spanish language “el” precedes masculine nouns which end in o. For example: ‘el niño’ means ‘the boy’. Hence, Elle Mouse-o. It doesn’t end there, though:
- Elmer
- Elmo
- Elbow
- Elle-Mouso
- Mouse-dog
- Mouser
- Mouse-o
- Mouse
- Munch (she enjoys shredding paper products and rugs)
And she responds to them all. We discovered one of her new favorite snacks the other night. Alex, being a pilot and all, enjoys what I call “fighter pilot food.” A high fat diet –> high blood pressure –> better G tolerance. Apparently, it is supposed to be good for their mental acuity, too, but I personally think that’s arguable. Generally, fighter pilots subsist on a diet of coffee, popcorn and beer. I don’t really understand it, but then, there’s a lot about fighter pilots I don’t understand. I digress. What was I saying? Ah yes, Alex was making “fighter pilot food” the other night and Elle loved it. Jalapeño popcorn!! If you have a popcorn popper, just add a little extra oil and cook up sliced jalaps for about 3-5 minutes. Make sure the room is well ventilated or do this outdoors. Add in the popcorn kernels and pop it with the jalaps. It’s really good. Elle loves popcorn, but she was even begging for the jalaps! The jalaps give the popcorn a little kick and they get a little crispy so they’re good to eat, too.
Alex + jalapeño popcorn = fighter pilot |
Okay, I make it sound like he’s a typical fighter pilot. He’s really not. He’s a sweetie pie who just so happens to be really good at flying a supersonic jet. No big. I love him. 🙂

Anyway, remember the nasty weather I told you about on Friday? Well, last night got really bad again, too. This tree went down just about a block from our house. We had tornadoes, hail, wind, lots of lightening and thunder and tons and tons of water. And it’s still raining now. I miss the sun.
