Well, as you may have figured out, we made it safe and sound back to Iowa. Yesterday, we spent the entire day with family. It was wonderful.
Our first stop was to visit an 8 pound cotton ball…who was extremely happy to see us.
It is so good to be home. And this is really our home. We don’t own any cars, we don’t own a house…we are essentially homeless for the time being. That’s why parents are so awesome. Both of our parents have welcomed us home with open arms and we are so happy to be here. As we drove across Iowa, I soaked in the rolling hills of corn fields and filled my lungs with crisp fresh air. It reminded me so much of growing up here. It’s such an incredible place. We couldn’t remember the last time we were in Iowa over the summer. It is usually during Christmastime so it was nice to see everything all green.
Not.
It’s so dry here right now, things are slowly turning from green to brown. They haven’t had rain in a very long time. It is affecting everything and will cause long term problems for the area if they don’t get rain soon. The newscast reported that a total of 7 raindrops fell this week. We even prayed for rain in church. They really need a good soak around here.
The food was amazing and fresh. Everything was from the garden and the steaks were grilled just right. The dogs like food, too. They made their rounds begging and collecting crumbs from everyone around the table.
My plate of goodness. |
We lit up a fire in the outdoor fireplace after clearing up dinner and relaxed and caught up. It was such a nice evening, I think at one point, everyone dozed off.

That looks like heaven! It's wonderful that you get to spend quality time with your families, in the place you love most, before you embark on your new adventure.
