The Oktoberfest that I mentioned in my previous post didn’t happen. We ended up having our own version of Oktoberfest at our friends’ house. The adults grilled brats and sat around the fire sipping our favorite German brew. Caroline gobbled down her green beans while we played the “night-night” game. I love this kid. 🙂
Week day date night in with the Viper Pilot:
Our couch, NCIS, steamed garlic pepper veggies, and Spicy Thai Noodles. If you haven’t tried that recipe, get moving on it. It’s our fave. It’s that one recipe that you sneak into the fridge to steal a noodle or two just to get a taste because you can’t wait to reheat it for dinner for the second night in a row. We also fight over who gets the left-overs and usually end up making another batch. It’s real good.
Meanwhile, Elle roasted her rump by the fire.
Happy Tuesday, blog readers! Having a good day so far? Mine started out early. EXTRA early. In fact, I was just getting up when some of you were thinking about going to bed.
Note: 70.5 was the temp INside the house. I wish it was that nice outside. It’s raining, overcast, windy, and rather chilly. All in all, it is a nice day for Germany. |
See that? I keep a clock with Iowa time on it so I always know what time it is back in the heartland. …because subtracting 7 hours is just too much work…I’m pretty pathetic.
Have you ever found yourself wide awake at 0430? Probably not. But I sometimes do, and today was one of those days. I laid there willing myself to go back to sleep but to no avail. I sprung out of bed, way too chipper for the time of day that it was, and asked myself,
“Self, what should I do now? Get ready for work then sit around and wait for a few hours? Make some coffee? Sit outside in the cold rain? See what’s happenin’ on Facebook?”
Nothing there crumbled my cookie. Instead, I grabbed my tennies and decided to go with a leg workout. I’m pretty sure Elle thought I had lost my mind. She glared at me when I turned on the light, then curled up in my warm spot under the covers and went back to sleep.
The leg workout went fantastically and I definitely could feel those muscles getting more ripped with every lunge I did. You know, jump lunges = buns of steel.
You can pretend I didn’t just say that. 😉
I did a cardio workout yesterday after work and since I am still getting adjusted to my daily workout routine, my muscles HURT. Two sweats in 12 hours probably wasn’t very smart of me. I’ll take it easy tomorrow. I haven’t been with my regular work-out routine since July — it’s crazy how fast you lose it.
I haven’t done an early morning workout in a really long time (maybe since high school?) and I have to admit that I enjoyed it. It is done and out of the way and my metabolism got a jump start for the day. Nothing wrong with having a Gatorade and a Clif Bar for breakfast, right? Breakfast of champions, I say.
What about you? When do you like to work out? Cast your answer in the poll on the top right hand column of the page. I’m anxious to learn a little more about you readers! *Don’t worry, it is anonymous!*
Tschüss!

That is such an adorable lil girl! The clock thing is a good idea! We all keep your time on our phones/ipods. Cale is constantly checking to see what Em&Alex time is.
