Yesterday was an insane day and I took zero pictures. I decided not to blog about it because I’m a big fan of blogs with lots of pictures. {Because that’s not obvious or anything… <– sarcasm.} Yesterday is over and done with and it’s time to move on to today.
🙂
I went to bed with dreams of a two hour delay coming my way. I woke up this morning to a message from the wing commander stating that only mission essential personnel were to report to base this morning. I am not mission essential and therefore, I get a mental health day schnee day <– best part. Bam…wish granted.
Breakfast: coffee with my favorite Dutch stroopwafels (syrup waffles). I don’t know if they are technically considered a breakfast food, but I really don’t care. They are the perfect combination of crunchy, crumbly, sweet, and chewy…yes, that’s possible.
When you dunk them in coffee, me oh my. Swoon. Let me know if you want to try them. I’ll send ya some.
Mid-morning snack: spicy hot cheese from Holland and crackers. I’m on a Dutch kick lately.
Oh, by the way, my CSD is mission complete. (!!!)
The cool part about my job is that I can do most of my work from home. I’m very glad we arranged the office so when I’m at the desk I get to look out the window and keep the Hurricane Emily aftermath behind me. But that mess is also on my to-do list along with folding the laundry, doing the dishes, meal planning for the week, cleaning the bathrooms, and washing the sheets.
Heh, heh, you would think I’m lazy or something. 😉
My view from “work” looks a little something like this:
Isn’t snow so much more bewitching from the warmth and ease of your own home?
I donned my winter swag (long johns) and after shoveling the driveway and sidewalks (there’s my workout for the day…ooof), Elmer and I frolicked in the snow. I know you’ve seen pictures of my snow covered backyard before but I just can’t get enough. Please tolerate me, it has been several years since I’ve lived somewhere far enough north to get snow.
And just in case you’re wondering, there is a window in your room in our house with a fantastic view.
Do you hear that?
Mysterious voice: “{Insert your name here}…{Insert your name here}!!”
That’s your German vacation calling. 😉
PROST!
Life is too short to grow up…what’s your favorite fun thing to do on a snow day? I was shoveling the sidewalks this morning and stopped to make a big fat snowball. Since I didn’t have anyone who would understand my good intentions to yell “FORE!!” and throw it at, I chucked it at an evergreen tree in our yard which caused all the snow on its branches to come avalanching down. It was very entertaining. I may have squealed with joy.
