Have you detected something missing lately? I’ve noticed the void, too. Well, fear not woeful readers. Because…
…he’s baaaack!
He was greeted by one very happy dog when he got home {as you can see}. He was also greeted with an ice cold German beer after climbing out of the jet from his first transatlantic flight in the F-16 and one very happy wife {as you can also see}.
When we got home, he gulped down a 5 hour energy and then went straight to bed. It was 6 pm. He was exhausted.
Call it superstition or whatever you like, but I believe in Murphy’s Law. You know, the law where if it’s going to happen it will happen when the Viper Pilot is gone? There will always be what I like to call “TDY debacles.” So, here are the TDY misadventures from the past five {insanely long} weeks.
The exploding beer…can you say party foul?
Hurricane Emily hit our office.
The forgotten Gladware in the back of the fridge…it was moving. {shudder}
The random freebie that drugstore.com decided to include in my order. This wasn’t really a misadventure, but I’m posting it because the lady frog on the pot makes me giggle. I swear I didn’t order this. Nor have I used it. Nor do I want to use it…
The bag of ashes from the wood stove that broke open before I could get it into the trash can…it was fine because ashes are really easy to clean up <– sarcasm.
When I couldn’t find the snow shovel (I actually don’t think we own one), I used a broom, and then the broom handle broke. So I did what any other man would do and duct taped it to a wood dowel. Then that broke too. I cleared the rest of the sidewalks and driveway with this stumpy broom. And the neighbors were taking pictures. I’m sure there’s a video on YouTube, too.
As if the broken broom handle wasn’t enough, some <jerk> parked his car on my sidewalk right in front of me as I was clearing the sidewalk in front of our house. Just maybe a little bit rude on his part…
Not having a strong man to haul firewood. {For the record, splinters aren’t awesome.}
Not having a brave man to drive when a blizzard hits. My drive home from base usually takes…oh, maybe 14-16 minutes. This particular day took 47…FORTY SEVEN minutes. I kid you not. There was nothing fun about it.
I know said earlier that I loved snow because it was so pretty and all that stuff. Ha! I am so done with mother nature.
I’m going to spend some time with the Viper Pilot (until he crashes for the night) but make sure you check back tomorrow. Something really exciting is returning to our lives!! 🙂
PROST!
