I was so excited to open my March Birchbox that I didn’t take pictures. Silly. Fortunately, they have pictures on their website that I can borrow and they don’t mind.
Why am I blogging about my March container at the end of April? Because I live overseas and it takes a few extra weeks to get to me. I spoke with their awesome customer service folks and they laughed as they told me that USPS considers their products potentially hazardous so they cross the pond on a boat instead of by air. I, too, think that’s pretty comical. You never know, a crazy person might burn someone’s eyes out with my oh-so-hazardous tinted moisturizer. Beware. 😉
None of you signed up with Birchbox on my referral after my last post, and that’s okay {rude…no, I’m kidding}. I don’t really mind. {That’s just really rude. ;)} But if you change your mind, here‘s another invite. I know there are several other companies that do something like this out there, but I can’t bring myself to leave Birch. They have the best point system and customer service. That means a lot to me, especially in this day and age.
The theme for March was March Madness, very suiting don’t you think? I’m not a sports nut, I don’t obsess over brackets and match-ups, Sweet Sixteens, or Final Four. I know I’m weird, but I already knew that. I’m afraid my in-laws may disown me for admitting this publicly, though.
This month, Birchbox provided me with all the goodies to get my game on. Some products were a slam dunk, some were air balls. Here’s the sound off.
Evologie | Intensive Blemish Serum
Source |
Slam dunk. I’m buying this soon, actually today. Right now. You should too. I apply it before bed after a good cleanse to those dreaded red splotches on my skin. I like to think of it more as a spot treatment than a blemish serum. It stings just a bit, which I like because that tells me it is working, but it is very gentle and gets the job done quickly without over-drying my already sensitive skin. I think I finally have found The One acne treatment in my life. Finally. Sigh.
Madewell for Birchbox | Nail Emery Board
Source |
At first I was disappointed when I saw this cute emery board in my container. “What fun is a nail file?!” Without using it first, I tossed it in my purse and have used it daily since. So, it was a slam dunk as well because I didn’t realize that I can always use a nail file. I just never bought them in the past. It comes in a nice little sleeve so it won’t “file” all your purse contents away. This one is smooth, unlike sandpaper, perfect for me and totally adorable. (It is NOT tots adorbs, it’s totally adorable. There is a difference. Thank you.)
twistband | Headband Collection
Source |
Aiiiir ballll. But probably just for me. I have really fine hair and a weird-shaped nugget. Headbands have never stayed in place so I wasn’t surprised when this one didn’t work either. After putting it on, I immediately start to feel it slowly slide back and soon it’s dangling on my pony tail. I still use my twistband to keep my hair back for my bedtime routine, but I have to secure it in place with a pin. They just don’t work for me.
Whish | Shave Crave Shaving Cream
Source |
Aiiiir ballll. I’m an avid Aveeno sensitive skin shaving cream kind of girl and I have been for ages. It smells like cookies and I don’t have to shave as often. I thought this might be a fun change, that is, until I opened it and smelled it. Blueberry. Blueberry?! Gross. I did try to use it a few times, gagging all the while, but it wasn’t even foamy. I didn’t love this.
Youngblood | Mineral Radiance Moisture Tint
Source |
Slam dunk. This. I became a bit of a tinted moisturizer fan after last month’s container but this product took it to the next level. They sent me the wrong shade, dagnabit, but I’m going to purchase it in the pasty-white-person shade and use it daily. Despite the darker shade, I feel like a glowing goddess when I massage this lotion into my skin each morning. I cover it with a light powder foundation which offsets the shade difference, otherwise I might look like I had a bad spray tan. It’s light, not greasy, and packed with antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. My face loves it and so do I.
I already peaked into my April container, you get a preview of what you’re getting online once it ships, and I’m incredibly excited. They teamed up with Women’s Health. Convenient. I love focus on my health!
