Oh, a mother’s love. There’s nothing quite like it, am I right?
Hot dog, I’m on a roll. It’s so nice to get the blog all caught up! We’ve been so busy lately, there’s just so much to share. Thanks for your patience with me and for your readership. I love you guys!
We headed over to Kinheim’s weinfest on a beautiful late summer Sunday afternoon. Kinheim is a very small town along the Mosel, and could be right out of a storybook.
I can think of a million words to describe this town. It was adorable.
Festive.
Charming.
Quaint.
Lively.
Do you get the picture or should I keep going…? The weinfest was actually a weinstrasse (wine street). Literally, a street of wine. All the local wineries set up tents along a narrow little street. You can get wine and food to your little heart’s content. We had an absolute blast.
Our favorite German wine is Spätlese, meaning late harvest. Made from fully ripe Riesling grapes, it is very light and crisp. We also prefer trocken or dry wine to sweeter wines. We sampled several trocken Spätlesen from different wineries. And all were fantastic to say the least. We added a few bottles to our collection.
Look at you, speaking German! I heard you trying to say it out loud. Try it again: SHpāt-lāzeh.
Owen slept through most of the festing but once he was awake, we took him to the less crowded bridge over the river for a scenery change. The little Herr insisted on walking across the entire thing like a boss.
{The Viper Pilot gets credit for all of the following (insanely good) pictures.}
This breathtaking view. Every town along the Mosel has a similar picturesque view from the river bridge but none are the same and all are my favorite.
Everything is new and fascinating to Owen. Leaves on trees, wind and anything its path, cars whizzing by, bicycles, water, people…
He finds pure joy in things we take for granted every day. Appreciate the beautiful world around you, you guys.
Uh, the tuft of his hair blowing in the wind? Yeah, it’s more cuteness than I can handle.
People on the boat were waving as they cruised by. So, naturally, Owen waved back. Waving is his newest trick and he’s really proud of it. Seriously, kid. You’re too much.
Stay tuned for a post on a big city we recently czeched off our bucket list. 😉
PROST!
