Here’s January’s 10 things post. It’s only 36 days late (harrumph!).
Every year I do a “year in review” post. Well, January was a pretty busy month for us, I don’t know if you know that or not. Alex just pointed out to me the other day that I didn’t do one for 2015. It’s a fairly easy post to write and I have a few minutes just now (I should probably be napping but I’m not) so I thought I’d knock it out before it’s 2017 already.
January
Owen had just turned one year old and after all the birthday festivities, Alex went TDY to Souda Bay, Greece. So it was just me and the little man for a few weeks.
February
A busy month for us and full of memories! My cousin Casey came to visit and we toured all over the local area, Alex came back from Greece and we went to Nuremberg, Germany (and this post also) and took a trip to Zurich, Switzerland (part two here).
March
Alex grew a mustache (gross) again. We went to Milan, Italy and took a day trip to see if there was anything worth seeing in Frankfurt (there wasn’t).
April
We were home for one weekend the month of April. We traveled to Amsterdam…
and Greece (Athens, Delphi, and Crete, Crete, and the rest of Crete).
While we were in Athens, we learned Della was on her way (while I was scrambling eggs that didn’t smell nearly as bad to Alex as they did to me and I lost the contents of my stomach). I had a hunch this was the case and packed Owen a big brother shirt just in case we needed it.
I just flipped through all the pictures of our beautiful German house from the day we moved out so please excuse me while I cry into my keyboard…
After a dreadfully teary
October
Alex and I each celebrated a birthday in October and the month was filled with friends and family. While Alex attended SOS (squadron officer’s school) in Montgomery, AL, Owen and I lived it up in Iowa (part two here) soaking up the beautiful fall weather (something I miss most about Iowa). Owen and I went to Alabama to spend some time with Alex. I got to see one of my best friends, Kristin while we were there. Once Alex graduated as a distinguished graduate, we all flew back to Iowa for a couple of days just in time for Halloween.
Then we boarded the big jet and flew halfway around the world (again) to our new home in South Korea. September and October’s recap post is here.
November
I hate to be a Debbie Downer, but November was probably my least favorite month of 2015. Welcome to South Korea…? It was dreadful. I was getting into the more uncomfortable stages of pregnancy and we lived in a tiny little two room hotel for the entire month waiting until we could get an apartment. In hind-sight, it wasn’t all that bad and the time went by fast, but between a base exercise (exercise…exercise…), Alex’s crazy work hours, jet lag, bad coffee, a stomach bug, having only the toys a gracious new friend lent us, and being 30-something weeks pregnant, it really wasn’t much fun at all.
December
We moved into our apartment on Owen’s 2nd birthday and celebrated our first Christmas in our apartment. It was a special, quiet day at home as we enjoyed the last few days as a family of three.
All in all, 2015 was definitely one we will never forget and once again, it was the best one yet. I love reflecting on past years, especially to see how much Owen and our life changes month-to-month. It’s a crazy beautiful life and I wouldn’t change a single thing.
We kicked off 2016 with a new addition to our family and I’m so excited to see what it brings! This picture didn’t quite make 2015 for obvious reasons but I couldn’t resist.
Be sure to walk down memory lane from 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014!! What an incredible adventure we’re living.
