Dearest Owen, Today you are three. Or as you would say, "I'm fweeeeee!" It may not seem like a big birthday to you, but to me it is. Three years ago you made me a mother. I feel like I just gave birth to you yesterday. As I snuggled next to you while you slept last night and placed my arms around you, I thought back to when you were brand new. I can still remember how tiny you were when the doctor placed you on my chest. You opened your eyes for the first time in this world and looked right at ... View the Post
Apartment life + Owen’s birthday celebration
We moved into our apartment on the day of Owen's 2nd birthday. He got a house and all of his things back for his birthday. He's a lucky boy, you might say. But it was a pretty intense day. The little Korean movers were speedy fast. They ran everywhere they went and could unpack things faster than I could figure out which room I wanted it in. The movers dropped off all our stuff in two hours and left us scratching our nuggets wondering where to even begin. I discovered a container of ... View the Post
Happy Birthday Owen!
My sweet Owen, Today we celebrate two years with you. And for your birthday, you're not only getting all our love and a few special presents, but also a new home and all of your things back. You're welcome. :) We don't really remember what life was like before you. That's okay. We slept in on the weekends, sometimes we stayed out way past bedtime, sat on the couch all day binge watching Netflix, and we planned our trips around the best restaurants rather than the best zoos. Life wasn't nearly ... View the Post
Sweet [temporary] home, Alabama
Owen and I arrived in Alabama after his bedtime. Since he slept on the flight, he somehow (very unlike Owen) stayed asleep until we put him in the rental car. He was awake for the ride back to the TLF (temporary living facility) on base and then crashed for the night. Well, sort of. It was a rough night, even for Owen standard, but I have to hand it to the kid. He hasn't slept in his bed since August we are constantly living somewhere else. This was his fourth pack 'n play sleep in four ... View the Post
Iowa Trip, part 2
I celebrated another birthday (still holding onto my 20s as long as I can) while in Iowa. It was full of happiness in the form of love, donuts, apple crisp, and song and dance. If you ever get the chance to see 42nd Street, don't pass it up. I went with my mom and it was so fun!! It will make you appreciate all those years of tap dance more than ever before. And potentially make you feel inadequate after all those years of dance lessons...these dancers are fantastic and so much fun to ... View the Post
Birthday bash at the Leipzig Zoo
HAPPY NEW YEAR, FRIENDS! How did you celebrate? We stayed home (the only place we wanted to be anyway) because I'm recovering from a stomach bug and I'm sleep deprived, the Viper Pilot has a nasty cold, and Owen isn't sick but is recovering from his 1 year shots (2 in one leg, 3 in the other, and a finger prick) which caused him to run a low-grade fever for a few days. We drank Prosecco and ate salty chips (best combo ever) while watching Grey's Anatomy and were in bed by 10. We rang in the new ... View the Post
