She thought she got away with out the public humiliation. She was so wrong. Last Friday was my eldest and wisest sister's birthday. It was a pretty significant one, too. It ended in a 0. This is the sister I could get away with annoying because I was the baby and I didn't know any better, the one who picked me up after I fell down the stairs (while laughing) and taught me to play checkers, taught me how to swim, and how to be a Hollywood superstar princess. HAPPY {belated} BIRTHDAY ... View the Post
Spring Green Lemon & Basil Pasta
Frohe Tag der Arbeit aus Deutschland! They take May Day very seriously here. The folks in town stayed up all night defending their maibaum (May tree), a pole depicting all the of trades in the town, from other villagers who might try to cut it down. In short, it's a bunch of drunk men sitting around the maibaum all night long. This is our village's maibaum, which is up year-round. They celebrate Tag der Arbeit (Labor Day) today and everyone has the day off. Well, except us Americans. Last ... View the Post
{Lightened Up} Broccoli-Cheese Soup
The good news is, we now have heat in our house. (HOORAY!) The bad news is, we still haven't seen a sign of spring. My wildflowers in the garden are defiant and trying to bloom anyway, but with the temps in the 30s still, I feel really bad for them. I think I know someone else who is ready for spring -- her hair is getting SO long. She really needs a haircut, but with it being so chilly outside, I'm afraid she'll freeze. All well. At least I can still buy myself some spring until Mother ... View the Post
Cauliflower Pesto Pasta
We woke up to an inch of snow and freezing rain. Even though it is a Sunday and I don't have anywhere to go, I'm going to say it anyway... SCHNEE TAG!! What, what!! I finally finished the giant heap of paperwork (such. a. relief.) and now I'm onto another little project that I'll probably tell you about later. ;) After finishing my CSD, I had an overabundance of random vegetables hanging out in the fridge. I like steamed veggies, raw veggies, etc. but I wanted to use them ... View the Post
Penne with Zucchini, Tomatoes, and Bacon
Lunch rocked today. Parmesan tilapia, steamed broccoli, and chipotle sweet tater fries. The other night, despite my lack of mixing bowls, pots, and pans, I made a real dinner for the first time in my new kitchen. And by real dinner, I mean something other than Pasta Roni or frozen pizza. Scratch that...I’ve actually made two dinners in my kitchen. Last week, I made my lasagna and Healthified Apple Cobbler (using apples from our apple tree in the backyard) for friends from the squadron ... View the Post

Not only does the Viper Pilot come home at random times, sometimes later than ... View the Post
