Greetings from South Korea! We've been here a week already and I still can't believe that I'm not only IN South Korea, but I LIVE in South Korea. Wow. To be honest, the RoK hasn't been treating us so well off the bat. Of course, severe jet lag is to be expected when you jump ahead 14 hours but we weren't expecting the stomach bug that slammed Owen the day after we got here. Alex has been super busy with work already working really crazy hours (that should hopefully change by the end of this ... View the Post
Drinking Stars
Before moving to Europe, I thought that white wine was from France and red wine was from Italy. I didn't really know there were other varieties of fizz besides champagne and how the heck did they get those bubbles in there, anyway? Three years later, we've now seen and experienced wine from various regions: Spain, Portugal, Germany, Italy, France...and though I'm no expert, I think I'd really impress the me from three years ago with my growing knowledge of the fancy juice. And one thing I'm ... View the Post
Milano (not the cookie)
Our most recent blind booking trip sent us to Milan. We loved our two weeks in Italy exactly two years ago and were really excited to go back. {We still love German Wings. We've flown with them several times before and it is by far one of the best budget airlines. What happened last month is absolutely tragic and my heart goes out to the families of those affected. We will continue to support the airline and hope that others do too.} Milan is an industrious city with a lot of sight-seeing ... View the Post
Barcelona – Part Uno
A few moons ago in 2004, we went to Spain with our high school Spanish class. We hardly knew each other then, but we sat by each other on the plane. A year later, we started dating and little did we know (or maybe we did) it would be the first day of the rest of our lives together. What I would give to still have those white teeth and that complexion...le sigh. Coffee and sleep deprivation has done us no favors over the years. Weren't we cute, though? So cute. The one city we hadn't seen ... View the Post
One more German Christmas.
I can't believe this was our last Christmas in Germany. I don't even want to talk about it. Nope, not really. Not knowing where we will spend the next Christmas makes me a bit nauseated, though you'd think I'd be used to this by now. No matter what part of the world we end up in this fall, though I have a pretty good hunch, it will be a new and exciting adventure to say the least. We are so thankful that we had the opportunity to celebrate three Christmases in our cozy little German home. Out of ... View the Post
Everything between then and now.
The fact that my parents are visiting again and I'm still blogging about their last visit should be a clear indication that I will probably never get completely caught up the way I'd like to. So let's get this over with...how bad can it really be? On their last day of my parents' visit we went to a weinfest in Brauneberg and met up with a lot of friends from the squadron. Mom got chased by a man playing a tuba. I think the German men are keen on her good looks... ;) Owen ... View the Post
