The Viper Pilot has been working essentially nonstop the past three or four weeks. He's gone 14-16 hours a day and only comes home to sleep. I try to have something for dinner for him when he gets home but usually I'll just pack extra food in his lunch and he eats dinner at work. I wish the military would be better about sharing my husband with me in our last few days as "just us" but I keep telling myself that he could be back at war. I try not to complain and vent too much (especially on the ... View the Post
Guten morgen, sonnenschein!
Good morning, sunshine! If I told you I was sorry for blogging only once a week would you believe me? No? I can't blame you. We're now in the final countdown to d-day (this time d-day stands for delivery day and NOT deployment day <-- YES!) and scrambling to get last minute preparations [read: nesting]. The nursery has been my project this past week. I've managed to take it from this: to this: {The rug with the awesome stain is the 15€ IKEA special. It will eventually be replaced ... View the Post
Strolling is serious business.
A couple of weeks ago I got a call from the Viper Pilot's uncle. He was in Mainz (near Frankfurt) on business so we drove over to have dinner with him one rainy Saturday evening. It was so good to see a familiar face -- and IN Germany! We haven't seen him since our wedding and it was great to catch up. I just really love fall. I think I maybe love fall decor more than Christmas decor. Maaaaybe. Germany is beautiful in the fall, that is, when it isn't raining. We are surrounded ... View the Post
10 things: my pregnancy must-haves
I must admit October 10th has certainly sneaked up on me. {Insert clever comment about how fast time is going here.} Our little pumpkin will be here before we know it. That being said, who knows what life will be like in a month so I decided to share my top ten pregnancy must-haves in October's "10 things" post. I'm not claiming these are the secrets to an easy pregnancy (women have been having babies for several years now and no two pregnancies are alike) but these items have certainly done ... Post-Deployment: I’m on my way to home, sweet home.
The end of a deployment is one of the most joyous occasions for military spouses and families. The excitement builds for days as the countdown reaches the single digits. Banners hang by the door, streamers decorate homes, posters are made, and flags are waved. Spouses and children don their Sunday best and anxiously search for the familiar face of their loved one in uniform. This is the moment we on the home front have been anticipating since the moment they left. Tears of happiness and ... View the Post
A place for baby!
Hi, my name is Emily and welcome to my blog. I try to write to you on a regular basis except when I'm really busy and lately, I've been really busy. After the Viper Pilot came home from deployment (I promise I'll write about this sometime soon) we spent some time relaxing so he could readjust to first world living. It isn't as easy as you might think. We were just looking back on the pictures of us in Koblenz and we both commented on his appearance. He looked exhausted and pale, with ... View the Post
