Skype.
It’s so much fun to be able to see and talk to my friends and family. I remember when I was a kid, the “next big thing” was that we would someday be able to see the person we were talking to on the phone. When we are connected, it’s like we are sitting across the table from our Skype friends. One time, I was Skyping with my mom while I was baking bread and I actually asked her if she could smell its wonderful scent as it baked. It just seemed like she was right there in my living room. I even gave my parents a tour of our house via Skype. We announced our engagement to my parents over Skype. I get to see my favorite kids (and dog) in the world over Skype across the miles that separate us.
We were really good about having a Skype date with Iowa when we first moved to Germany, but life has happened and we are back into our busy ways and it hasn’t been a regular occurrence. It’s not an excuse. I want to be better about staying in touch especially now that we live 7 times zones ahead of family and friends.
The first time I ever saw the Viper Pilot in a flight suit was on Skype back in the academy days. Six years later, he still makes the flight suit look good. He was back then and still is a handsome devil in a flight suit.
He’s going to love me for posting that picture, I’m just sure. 😉
When the Viper Pilot and I lived apart after college, we used to have Skype dates. We would “hang out” on the couch and watch TV together. I hated it at the time, but looking back it’s a fond memory. I know that in the future Skype will be our best friend again.
To download Skype, go to the Skype website and download the free application. And then start chatting!! Skyping is my favorite. I don’t know what I would do without it.
Can I verb Skype? I think I just did… 😉
Check back next Friday for Things I need to do more often – #2. And check back tomorrow for a castle post! HAVE A HAPPY WEEKEND!
PROST!
