Hello! I’m Emily. Welcome to my blog and thank you for stopping by. Please, get yourself a cup of coffee (or a glass of wine) and stay for a while.
This is me:
I’m a 20-something, military wife, hobbyist photographer, self-proclaimed shopaholic, food aficionado, chocoholic, wine drinking, travel-addict, aerospace nerd engineer with a passion for living life to its fullest potential.
I love food.
I love all kinds of food, but mostly the fresh and healthy kind. I like to cook it, bake it, eat it, photograph it, write about it, and share it with others.
I love photography.
For me, photography is many things — documenting what is going on, immortalizing faces, and capturing the visual art that is all around me. There is something about the power and grace that allows me to stop the world…one fleeting moment at a time…with just the press of a button.
Enough about me.
Meet my 20-something, very handsome, full of random facts, F-16 pilot, hot husband: Alex.
We went on our first date in May 2005 to a nice dinner and to see the movie The Longest Yard. He asked me to be his co-pilot in August 2011. I said yes (of course) and we tied the knot on June 9, 2012.
He is undoubtedly my better half. He will eat {usually} anything I cook, puts up with me in any mood I’m in, cleans/makes the bed/unloads the dishwasher/does the laundry/etc, brings me breakfast in bed, refills my water glass without ice because he knows that’s just how I like it, and somehow he loves me more and more every single day.
He’s not going to be happy unless he’s going Mach 2 with his hair on fire. (Yeah, that’s from Top Gun.) Alex is able to maintain an incredibly positive outlook, even in the midst of trying circumstances. We dated long distance for five years. It wasn’t easy but it was so very worth it. He’s my Mr. Right, my dream come true. He can make me smile anytime, anywhere, no matter what.
We have a fur-child. Her name is Elle and she is our pride joy.
She’s a Colorado native, a second generation maltese/poodle. a little miss priss, and we simply love ‘er to death.
In March 2013, we found out our family would be growing by two little feet.
announcement post and more about the baby
On December 3, 2013 we welcomed our sweet baby boy, Owen Daniel, into our lives. He has filled our hearts with an over abundance of joy and we couldn’t be any more in love with him.
He’s a HE! and Owen’s birth story
In April 2015, we found out the exciting news that we were growing again!
We welcomed our beautiful daughter, Della Genevieve into the world on January 13, 2016. She’s the perfect addition to our family and we didn’t realize it was possible to feel so much love all at one time.
It’s a…girl! and Della’s Birth Story
Being a military family, we move a lot. We’ve lived in Colorado, Mississippi, Texas, Germany and now we’re living in and experiencing South Korea. With each move we make new friends, leave friends behind, live far away from our families, and are eternally indebted to technology for allowing us to stay in touch with everyone.
I get asked a lot about what it is like to be a fighter pilot’s wife. When I think about the military lifestyle that we live, it is a flurry of emotion. Pride, excitement, and even some frustration coalesce at once to sum up our day-to-day and our long-term future. He is making our country and our world a better place, and Owen, Della and I get to be right by his side.
The future of the blog is undefined. I promise there will be food, fashion, family, friends, and fun with plenty of pictures. It will be an adventure, without a doubt. So, please join us…
Follow along as we embark on the journey of a lifetime.
