I painted Owen’s crib grey. Or gray. I never really know. Here’s the long overdue post about the grey crib.
I swear to you, it wasn’t supposed to be a “wild idea.” But it happened irregardless. And I am so glad it did because it is my favorite piece in Owen’s nursery (besides him, of course).
I do highly suggest soaking your Annie Sloan brush overnight to let the stray bristles fall out. I didn’t do this and ended up having to pick hairs out of the paint before it dried. It was just annoying more than anything.
At the end of it all, I’m really happy with the finish and appearance of the crib. I learned a lot and am even not afraid to use the chalk paint again. I know how to do it right and I’m sure the next project, whenever and whatever it may be, will go much more smoothly.
I’m just so darn proud of my handy work. 😉
PROST!

It looks great Emily! I love the grey crib, especially with how well it compliments the pretty awesome canvas you've got hanging above it 😉 Mitchell HATES painting too, so I can only imagine how interesting the same task would have been for us!

Thanks! Hope you found an F-22 one! Can't wait to see baby C's nursery!!

Where in Belgium did you find the paint? We're new here and I've been looking for it, the closest I've found it is in Wiesbaden.
Emily says
I got it at a little shop in Tongeren, Belgium. But they have several stockists in Germany and most of them will ship to your physical address. Here is the list of stockists:

Hope that helps!

Thanks! I was wanting to see if it was closer than Wiesbaden, luckily we'll be there soon for basketball so I'll grab some then and then just order when I need to re-stock. I can't wait to get some and try it out!

Your crib is beautiful. How much paint did it take to complete the bed?
Emily says
I didn't quite go through one liter. I bought a smaller can of paint to keep on hand for touch ups.

This is kind of great idea to make baby crib look very good. It looks that it took lot of hard-work by you to make it look like great. I would to make this kind of baby cot(crib) specially for my niece.

Did you use the same brush to paint and wax the crib?
Emily says
I didn’t…I used a flat paint brush for the paint and the round Annie Sloan brush for the wax.
Barbara McElrath says
If you use dark wax over the entire piece, can you still see the distressing?
Do you apply clear wax over the dark wax?
Emily says
I only used the clear wax. I didn’t do any distressing.

The crib looks awesome. I am wanting to paint our babies cribs. When you repainted the crib, what color grey did you use?
