Visiting the farm is one of my favorite things to do when I’m home. My grandparents are incredible people and I’m so blessed for all that they have done for me in my lifetime. I’ve always enjoyed watching them spoil their great-grandkids and I was so excited for them to meet Owen.
Owen quickly took to great-grandpa and the two were inseparable the whole day.
For as long as I can remember grandma and grandpa have had the signature pig statue on their farm. When I was a kid, they had pigs on the farm. Somewhere along the way, it became a tradition to get your picture taken sitting on the pig. Everyone has a picture on it and I think it’s even become part of the inauguration when someone marries into the family.
My little nephew Jack on the pig.
It was humid as all get out (not something I’m used to anymore) but Owen insisted on being outside exploring. Typical Owen.
My view 90% of the time:
But who could complain with those eyes…! Watch out, ladies.
The twins, Henry and Maddie, with the little guys, Nick and Jack.
Blake (who stole my title as tallest in the family) and Cale.
Owen got to meet his Uncle Keith who drove to the farm for the day and brought him this awwwwesome giant firetruck to play with, so they were instant pals.
Cornfields in Iowa are unlike any Owen’s ever seen in Europe and he was very intrigued.
I am not a fan of humidity and what it does to my hair, but I love what it does to his. Look at that curl!
It was so much fun having all 7 kids together! So naturally, a million pictures were taken.
And we updated the annual jump picture (this tradition goes waaaay back).
This is one of the first ones from 2010. Look how much they’ve grown…where is time going?!
Who needs an amusement park when you have great-grandpa’s tractors?
Four generation picture…
By the time we loaded up to drive home it well past bedtime and everyone was completely wiped out. It was such a fun day.
We’re going out of town this weekend but my goal is to get the rest of the Iowa trip on the blog before we make it back to Iowa in a couple of weeks. Stay tuned!!
xoxo!
