Vacation rules: Drink coffee (or beer or wine). Listen to Christmas music. Eat lots of Belgian chocolate. Wear cozy clothes. Wear slipper socks. All other rules are null and void. Of course, the blog goes on. I'm so glad you enjoyed yesterday's post about our trip to Belgium. An exciting addition follows... After a scrumptious breakfast, we checked out of the hotel, packed up the car and sat there for a moment. "Now what?" After two nights in Brugge, we weren't ready ... View the Post
Beercation – part 1
I hope everyone had a very happy Thanksgiving! I took a break from blogging to enjoy my time with the Viper Pilot and I hope that you all took a break from the computer screen to spend time with your loved ones. Be extra thankful that you were able to spend time with you friends and family. It's going to be a tough holiday season for us since we will be so far from our family. The Viper Pilot and I have been on leave since Tuesday. We drove to Brugge or Bruges (depending on which language your ... View the Post
Currywurst in the crock pot
My backyard is officially winter-dead. Not to be confused with dead-dead. I expect a full recovery in a few months. Everywhere we go, we have the option to eat a bratwurst. The bratwurst is to Germany as the burger is the United States. Along with soft pretzels, schniztel, etc. Yeah, there's a lot of amazing food in Germany. I can't get over how delicious German brats are. They are nothing like brats I have ever had. I always thought a brat was a brat was a brat with the only variable ... View the Post
Cannstatter Volksfest
Hi readers!! It's Tuesday, 'bee' happy! <-- too corny? Did you have a pleasant weekend? We took a little trip to Stuttgart. My travel companions: The drive to Stuttgart was about 3 hours long, all Autobahn, but I never mind road trips. The scenery is gorgeous and I enjoy seeing new parts of Germany. Stuttgart is in southern Germany and it was much more flat there. This town reminded me of my hometown back in Iowa...can you see why? Our hotel was pretty ... View the Post
Emily’s Awkward Lemonade
"When life gives you lemons, make lemonade." Okay. I've been here in Germany a month now, and I think it's about time to establish a motto. All I want to do is travel every minute of every day. I don't live in a perfect world and alas, I must work. I don't love my work schedule, but such is life. I understand why I have to have a job, I am an adult after all. I've been a student since I was six years old, so this 8-5 job thing is weird to me. I am starting to see why most of the spouses don't ... View the Post
Himmerod Abbey
Last Thursday was my last day as a free woman - I know, I've been married for a while now, but that's not what I'm referring to, crazy you -- it was my last day before starting work. So I was very excited when there was an activity planned by the other spouses in the squadron for me to partake in since I won't get to do that very often. Every month, the wives go out and have a celebration lunch celebrating birthdays and anniversaries in the squadron. Several (not me) of the gals had one or the ... View the Post
