Back in November, Alex had some time off and we took a trip to Sokcho on the east coast of South Korea. It is an area that is north of the 38th parallel and was once part of the north which made it an interesting place to visit. There were lots of sections of the beach lined with big barbed wire fences and dead end roads. But it was nice to be on a beach in the polluted "sunshine" even if it was a little dirty, man-made, and cold. I mean, it's still South Korea. Koreans love their ... View the Post
Have yourself a merry little Christmas
It was our first Christmas as a family of four and our fifth Christmas away from our families. That part never gets any easier, but we were still able to make it a special day for our little family. Owen was really into Christmas this year and was so excited about Santa and baby Jesus. Seeing the magic of Christmas through his eyes is what parenthood is all about...let me tell you, there's nothing better. I put together a little fusion video of our day for our families so rather than write about ... View the Post
A letter to Della on her first birthday + {a video}
To my sweet Della, It's been a heck of a year. It's been an incredible year. I can't even begin to describe how incredibly exciting it's been watching you bloom into the sweetest, most adorable little girl. I've learned a lot from you about being a mother and about myself. You taught me that childbirth can be calm and peaceful. You've taught me that patience is the key to joy. That I am capable of more than I ever dreamed possible and that there are no limits to my love. All that, and so ... View the Post
Seoul-cation, part II
In usual fashion, Owen was up before the sun the next morning and since he was sleeping right next to his sister (they had their own room in the hotel), she was awake too. And since they're our kids, we were awake too. Most of the time we do a pretty good job of getting ready and making the most of our day with such an early start. After having donuts for breakfast, we hopped on the subway to the Changgyeonggung Palace. Seriously, though. that's what it's called. Located in the heart of the ... View the Post
Seoul-cation, part I
I told Alex I was thinking about skipping going back to blog about the last few months and just start fresh. He was like, "What?! No! We've done a lot of interesting things!" But he never offered to edit the photos and write the post. I have to do all the work around here these days. 😉 I'm kidding. Kind of. Alex had two weeks of leave so in addition to getting a ton of stuff done around the house, we decided to get away for a few nights. Seoul is not far from where we live, but the city is ... A letter to Owen on his third birthday {+a video!}
Dearest Owen, Today you are three. Or as you would say, "I'm fweeeeee!" It may not seem like a big birthday to you, but to me it is. Three years ago you made me a mother. I feel like I just gave birth to you yesterday. As I snuggled next to you while you slept last night and placed my arms around you, I thought back to when you were brand new. I can still remember how tiny you were when the doctor placed you on my chest. You opened your eyes for the first time in this world and looked right at ... View the Post
