A year ago today, I was lounging in the infinity pool with a swim-up bar at our resort with my new husband. In the beautiful Caribbean isle of St. Thomas, we were probably lost in conversation, talking about how much fun we had at our wedding, and sipping some sort of rum concoction.
{I remember starting to get a little sad towards the end of our wedding reception because the incredible day was over and then I remembered we had a week in paradise. Oh! Duh…}
A lot has happened in the first year…
9. House hunting [TOGETHER].
We got to experience the first night in our new empty house (though we are only renting it for the next few years, we still call it “ours” because why not?) drinking wine while sitting on the tile floor and eating frozen pizza. It was straight out of the movies and I’ll never forget it.
8. We survived two months of our first deployment.
The two week TDY last October followed by the one month TDY in January has nothing on the deployment. It has its ups and downs and some days are longer than others. But the point here is, we survived. And we’ll make it through the rest.
Is it wrong that I think the tan flight suits are more attractive than the green ones? |
7. We’ve traveled to 8 countries.

1. We’re expecting our first baby, with more than enough love and space in our hearts and lives for the little one.
Right now, a year after our honeymoon, I’m bored at work in Germany trying to figure how many weeks pregnant I will be when my husband gets back and imagining how big my belly will get.
I miss my better half more than anything right now and I’m a
ridiculous sap lately (thank you, hormones and the seemingly continuous sad music on the radio) so I thought it would be fun
to do a quick recap of 10 things from our first year of marriage…but I
simply cannot deduce our beyond belief first year into 10 things. I’m
sorry, I did try but I just couldn’t sum it up into 10 things.
It has been a great first year! Here’s to many, many more! 🙂

Awww…I still get a lil teary eyed when I see that pic of you two in the airport before you left for Germany…love you, miss you!

I actually do, too. That was a tough day. I remember hugging our parents and little Maddie not knowing whether I should be excited or cry…I don't handle emotions well, haha!
