In my first week of what I guess I'll call freedom, I have been really productive. I've washed windows, cleaned floors, dusted, scrubbed the kitchen, baked up a storm, prepared meals, worked out, washed and folded all the laundry, and even found time to enjoy [decaf] coffee in the backyard with Elle. You might call is nesting, but I call it awesome. My house has never been so squeaky clean. It really is starting to feel like fall. The weather is chilly and the air is crispy. I love fall for ... Vanilla Bourbon Pudding Cake
A sunset during winter in Germany? Well I never... The sun visibly sunk beyond the horizon at promptly 4:49 pm today. The days are getting noticeably longer and as long as the sun continues to shine, I will be getting noticeably happier. {I just spelled noticeably wrong twice in a row: noticibly followed noticably. That's what I get for using a tough word twice in the same sentence.} It doesn't matter either way to Elle. She's sleeps all day ... View the Post
Nutella Pumpkin Banana Bread
Gasp. Is that...could it be...the sun?! ooohhhh...my eyes!! We haven't seen Mr. Sunshine in a long time. I welcomed him with open arms. Sorry for not posting yesterday. I decided I need a break to spend some time with the Viper Pilot. He had to work bright and early but we met for Chinese for lunch. While we were chatting over our food, I made the comment, Me: "Whew. I can tell I didn't have my coffee this morning. I'm still asleep!" Him: "I can tell I was in the states yesterday. ... {Not just a recipe post} + Mississippi Mud Cookies
Thank you for all your sweet comments on the blog and on Facebook about my post for my mom's birthday! You are all so sweet! She is a very special lady, indeed. Last Wednesday I wore my cowboy girl boots to work. I got lots of compliments on them throughout the day, but it didn't dawn on me until I was running errands around base that Germans don't wear boots like that. A lot of local nationals looked at me funny. Almost every AF member has been to Texas, there is a large AF presence ... View the Post
Chocolate Zucchini Cake
^ Chocolate zucchini cake?! That's crazy talk. I never thought it would be any good, but I made it anyway. So, let's talk about how wrong I was about how it wouldn't be any good. Because it was amazing. I'm still working my way through the world's largest zucchini. And I like chocolate. I saw the recipe and thought maybe it would be worth a shot. Chocolate Zucchini Cake adapted from Simply Recipes for the cake: 2-1/2 cups unbleached ... View the Post
Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp
Boot camp is in full swing here. We squeeze in a 30 minute workout once a day. The Viper Pilot hasn't worked out since his last PT test...in February...so it's most definitely boot camp for him. I'm kicking his booty. Heh heh...tough love. :) We've also had a flea epidemic. Over and over and over again. Poor Elmer has had more flea baths than she has had Dentistix this week. I guess they are just really bad this year and we can't keep them off of her. I finally caved and took her to get ... View the Post
