The Great Diaper Bag Debate
I'll just go ahead and say it. I kind of dread carrying a diaper bag. It's a vanity issue. Is that petty? The options in store are slim (sorry, I'm just not a Hello Kitty handbag type). Most diaper bags I can find are covered in huge neon polka dots, wild and crazy patterns, or (far worse) smothered in giraffes, monkeys, owls, kittens, and hippos, or something comparably kitschy. I want, nay - NEED - something chic, simple, and practical. Something that looks more like a big purse than what ... View the Post
Jesus take the wheel.
My mother is the most positive minded person I know. Sometimes I refer to her as 'Cup Half-Full Connie.' She always has an uplifting .02 up her sleeve. For example, instead of taking your side during a vent session she'll offer up her medicine for a bad day in the words of the famous Transcendentalist, Ralph Waldo Emerson, "For every minute you are angry you lost sixty seconds of happiness." What I'm really trying to say here, is that though her constant stream of positivism may be borderline ... View the Post
Exercise and Pregnancy
I am serious about my workouts and getting pregnant didn't sway me whatsoever. From what I read, most women get knocked off their feet in the first trimester. I turned out to be one of those "lucky ones" and actually felt pretty normal for those first three months. Contrary to popular belief, pregnancy is not the perfect time to sit back and put your feet ... View the Post
Bumpdate!
I suppose it is about time for a baby update, huh? At almost 19 weeks, baby gets bigger every single day. Most baby websites compare the size of my baby to a fruit or vegetable, which can be fun, but also a bit silly. Baby is currently a bell pepper but we all know bell peppers aren't all the same size so this comparison doesn't always work. Instead, I use this fetal length and weight chart and try to find a common object to compare baby's size to. This week, baby is 6-7 ... View the Post
Woe, is me.
The day I was dreading since my mom planned her trip has come and gone. Alas, she was only here to visit, not move in so I knew she had to leave sometime. But I think it is safe to say that with all the leaving Alex does, I suffer from what I guess we can call separation anxiety. I don't like it when people have to leave. Neither does Elle. Elle spent the night sitting outside mom's room waiting for her to come to bed. It broke my heart. I think she's sick of people leaving too. It is just ... View the Post
