Frohe Tag der Arbeit aus Deutschland! They take May Day very seriously here. The folks in town stayed up all night defending their maibaum (May tree), a pole depicting all the of trades in the town, from other villagers who might try to cut it down. In short, it's a bunch of drunk men sitting around the maibaum all night long. This is our village's maibaum, which is up year-round. They celebrate Tag der Arbeit (Labor Day) today and everyone has the day off. Well, except us Americans. Last ... View the Post

Meal Planning
Hey, hey, ya'll! Hope you're having a lovely Thursday. I love short weeks, Friday comes so much faster! I've been meaning to start doing weekly meal plans for a while now. I decided that a short week would be a good time to try again since it's only 3 days worth of planning. I can ease into it that way. I ... View the Post
Greenies all around!
Hot dog. I miss having a real spring. This isn't spring, this is just hot and humid. The problem is, it is only going to get worse. I moved to Mississippi a year ago and survived my first summer, so I know what is coming. I wasn't here for spring, however, so I am still adjusting to the fact that spring here is like summer back in Iowa. I keep reminding myself that the average temperature here this past winter was 50 something and it snowed two times. I really shouldn't complain, but this ... View the Post
Marinade Success
Whew, this week is flying by. It's Thursday already! Holy moly. I had a very productive Wednesday. Went to work, started on my extended abstract, wrote a proposal, did ALL the laundry (folded and put away, thank you very much), mowed the lawn, did paper work, paid some bills, and did a killer leg workout. And I still found time for a kick-hiney dinner. Win-win-win-win-win...win. Funny story. Elle HATES baths. When I came back inside from mowing the lawn, looking like a green grassy ... View the Post
