Mother Nature, you're such a tease. Stop it. We had the most beautiful day yesterday. The most wonderful weather we've had in such a long time, I honestly don't know how long it has been since we had weather that nice. We took full advantage of the spring-tease and built a garden. And by 'we' I mean all three of us. Elle was there for moral support. I already have a huge flower bed, several actually, in my backyard but we didn't really have a good spot to plant my ... Cauliflower Pesto Pasta
We woke up to an inch of snow and freezing rain. Even though it is a Sunday and I don't have anywhere to go, I'm going to say it anyway... SCHNEE TAG!! What, what!! I finally finished the giant heap of paperwork (such. a. relief.) and now I'm onto another little project that I'll probably tell you about later. ;) After finishing my CSD, I had an overabundance of random vegetables hanging out in the fridge. I like steamed veggies, raw veggies, etc. but I wanted to use them ... View the Post
A refresher course on healthy choices.
What's up guys? It was a red shoe day for me. Had a couple of bumps in the road but overall, it was a really good day. I wore my magical red shoes and my lucky necklace. It reminds me of a certain hunky pilot... ;) I ended up working late (yay, overtime pay!!) and came home to a piping hot bowl of soup that's been stewing in the crock pot all day and a super huge plate steamed veggies. Yep, that's cabbage soup. I'm doing the cabbage soup diet this week. I realize it's a little bit ... View the Post
Things I need to do more often – #6
Better self control with my eating habits. Meet Elle, good dog, self control level: expert. Hello, my name is Emily and I'm a carboholic. Hot-buttered-bakery-fresh-pastry-pasta-potato-there's-not-a-carb-I-don't-love carboholic. Despite my regular workout routine, I am starting to notice the post-holiday (mostly due to excessive carb consumption) weight showing up. My pants sort of feel like sausage skin. I initially confounded our German dryer for shrinking them but another thought ... View the Post
Penne with Zucchini, Tomatoes, and Bacon
Lunch rocked today. Parmesan tilapia, steamed broccoli, and chipotle sweet tater fries. The other night, despite my lack of mixing bowls, pots, and pans, I made a real dinner for the first time in my new kitchen. And by real dinner, I mean something other than Pasta Roni or frozen pizza. Scratch that...I’ve actually made two dinners in my kitchen. Last week, I made my lasagna and Healthified Apple Cobbler (using apples from our apple tree in the backyard) for friends from the squadron ... View the Post
Fur-babies and Food
Happy Saturday!! Two weeks until wedding bells!! (Can you believe it?!) This post is just a continuation/wrap-up of the events from the Viper Pilot's graduation weekend. Enjoy! I failed to mention that there were not one, but two pups staying at our house over graduation weekend. We stayed in a hotel on the Riverwalk, but they were holding the house down. We took turns going back to let them out periodically. Drake is Elmer's cousin. He is a year old yorkalier ... View the Post
