I do believe life is sometimes crazy on purpose to remind us that we do have an insane person in our minds and sometimes it is necessary for the insane version of us to make an appearance. This helps us keep tabs on it and forces us to remain sane during the normal times in our lives. What in the what?! That didn't even make sense. Which indicates that at this very moment, I am insane. My life is out of control crazy right now. I have been pushing through 14 hour work days, 7 days a week with ... View the Post
Easiest Peanut Butter Cookies
Oh, Friday. You're a bittersweet day this time around. I got a lot done at work and managed NOT to break my computer (long story) but... Swollen lymph nodes = puffy neck Red, enormous tonsils = sore throat Yep, I's be gettin' sickies. Definitely getting a cold...or maybe it is strep? Positive thoughts. I must remain a Positive Penelope. (You know, like Debby Downer? I don't remember what the positive one is so I just made that up.) I'm loading up on echinacea, vitamin ... View the Post
An Eventful Weekend
Hi friends! Did you have a nice weekend? Mine certainly was. My mom and dad came to visit! AND!! Guess who is back?! Just the cutest, fluffiest, four-legged creature that we all know and love...ELMER! Who was perfectly content snoozing in her favorite spot. That is, of course, after zooming around the house and her backyard at Mach 1 because she was so happy to be back in her territory. We had a wonderful weekend, despite the record breaking low temperatures. It has been in the 60s/70s ... View the Post
Healthy Once More
The good news is, I'm healthy again. Hooray! Last Saturday, I was feeling healthy enough for a walk. My lungs desperately craved fresh air and I needed to see the sun. There is a quaint little park in Castroville that has a walking path all the way around, plus hikes in in the foothills of hill country that we might have to scope out next time. The path around the park was all I had the energy for, though. It was a beautiful 80 degrees. The path meandered around along the river ... View the Post
Nutty for Nutella
The first day of fall was September 23....but don't tell my garden that. Notice how the tomato plant has attached itself to the post...I lost count at 30 tomatoes. They should all be ready to go around the same time so it seems as though I will be making pizza sauce very soon... Who needs a bird feeder when you have these beauties. The hummingbirds and butterflies love my petunias. I do too. WATERMELONS!! (there is one more hiding behind the plant) Elmer and I had a pretty lazy weekend. ... View the Post
WHOOSH goes the month of June
Where did June go?! June 1-28: Emily takes a summer math class I enjoy math, actually a lot (I swear it is genetic) but this class really pushed me to my limits. The "stuff" was easy enough, but there was SO much "stuff." How can I put this in words? Let's say someone just handed you a $3000 dollar bottle of wine that you never in your dreams imagined you would ever have the pleasure of even looking at. They uncork the beast, hand it to you delicately, and then yell, ... View the Post
